8/21/2003 - Message 95 posted on the ephedra forum on yahoo: Ephedra vs Lipoma systs

I have a hereditary condition that produces many systs on various places on my body (mainly arms, chest, abdomen, thighs) that are known a Benign Multiple Symmetric Lipomas. I have had the larger ones removed surgically, but continue to generate them. Just trying to find a doctor to remove them is challenge enough, not to mention navigating insurance coverage. Since they are benign, most MD's don't take them very seriously. The largest one so far was the size of a small peach and stuck out of my chest. Surgical removal in these days of malpractice crisis must be done in-hospital same-day and the cost is absurd. Years back many doctors would consider it an office procedure.

I have virtually dozens of them (most small and not noticable, but each with the potential to grow much larger). The medical community has no information on what causes these growths or how to prevent them.

Two years ago, as an experiment, I began taking Xenadrine RFA-1 in an attempt to control the development of these lipomas, and it worked beautifully. The lipomas are basical fat deposits, and when removed have the appearance of grizzle. While taking the ephedra- based Xenadrine, formation of new systs almost completely ceased. The existing systs stopped growing and some actually shrunk. Needless to say it has been a godsend.

I have never been significantly overweight, work out fairly regularly and have otherwise always been in excellent health. I followed the directions in taking the Xenadrine capsules and limited them to 2 in the AM an hour before breakfast and 2 in the mid to late afternoon, and drank a lot of water.

Now I have run out and am scouring the internet looking for a replacement and I'm pissed!!! From what I can tell there have been approximately 120 "possible" ephedra related deaths. Considering the millions of people who have taken it worldwide without difficulty and with great benefit, it appears to be safer than drinking water.
