Did you know that there are many patented formulations using ephedra?
Ephedra is the primary ingredient of the most successful weight loss
supplements. It's too bad that the government threw out the baby with the
bath water on this valuable herb. What a loss to those in need of help in
losing weight! And what a loss to those companies that spent their time
and hard-earned research dollars creating, testing and patenting these
formulations.
Below is a list showing the abstracts of the more interesting
formulations using or citing ephedra. Click on the link for the full patent.

A cure for a hangover containing the active ingredient
ephedrine in powdered form enclosed in a capsule. In a second embodiment this
cure contains ephedrine and charcoal, while in a third embodiment, this cure
contains Ephedra, charcoal and Vitamin B6. The use of any one of
the three embodiments reduces the symptoms associated with alcohol
intoxication and hangovers thereby speeding up recovery. The Ephedra,
Vitamin B-6 and charcoal may be combined on a wt % ratio of 1:2.5:10. The Ephedra
may come in the form of Ma Huang having 6% wt % Ephedra. One
type of dosage is in the form of individual capsules having 10 Mg of Ephedra,
25 Mg of Vitamin B-6 and 100 Mg of activated charcoal. The recommended dosage
would be two capsules so that users who are experiencing a hangover or alcohol
related side effects may take up to 20 Mg of Ephedra, 50 Mg of
Vitamin B-6 and 200 Mg of activated charcoal. This cure may also consist of a
therapeutic method for curing the effects of alcohol consumption wherein this
dosage could be taken after the consumption of alcohol.

mammal by administration of a composition containing a weight loss effective
amount of a noradrenaline stimulating compound such as ephedrine, mahuang (a
plant source of ephedrine alkaloids), citrus aurantium (bitter orange),

or guarana, and a botanical COX inhibitor such as resveratrol polygonum
cuspidatum, scutellaria baicalensis, turmeric, curcumin, rosmary, green tea,
ocimum sanctum (holy basil), or ginger, instead of an NSAID such as aspirin,
and optionally a free fatty acid reducing compound. The thermogenic formula is
coupled with a growth hormone stimulating formulation containing L-arginine or
L-omithine, L-lysine, and a free fatty acid reducing agent such as nicotinic
acid. The thermogenic formula would preferably be administered in the daytime,
and the growth hormone producing formula at nighttime. The two compositions

Materials derived from Citrus plants can be administered orally to humans for
the purpose of producing or maintaining weight loss as well as for improving the
person's physical performance and increasing the person's lean muscle mass. The
Citrus materials include those portions of the plant that are normally
considered waste or inedible, such as the leaves, peel, and immature, unripe
fruit. The materials contain at least one of the alkaloids from the group
consisting of synephrine, hordenine, octopamine, tyramine and N-methyltyramine
(1). Two species, Citrus aurantium and Citrus reticulata, are particularly
useful. The materials can be administered in their natural form or as extracts,
and can be administered in various ways including capsules and tablets. The
Citrus materials may also be used as a tea. For weight loss and weight control,
the materials can be administered concurrently with caloric restriction or in
the absence of caloric restriction. The materials may also be administered for
the purpose of increasing muscle mass concurrently with a high protein diet as
well as with an exercise program.
